George LeBlanc : pêcheur passionné dans l'âme

 

George LeBlanc est né en juin 1929 et vient d'une famille de six enfants. Il apprend le métier de pêcheur de homard avec son père dès l'âge de 8 ans, mais il a également pêché au cours de sa vie le maquereau, le hareng et l'éperlan. Il est tellement passionné du métier qu'il a construit une quinzaine de bateaux dont celui de son garçon, le "Randy. Son propre bateau, le Robynn, a été recouvert avec de la fibre de verre afin qu'il dure plus longtemps. 

 

Il habite dans la région de Petit-Cap avec son épouse Margaret et ils ont célébré 60 ans de mariage en juillet 2017.  Ils ont six enfants ainsi que plusieurs petits et arrières petits enfants. Pendant ses temps libres, il est un joueur d'accordéon hors pair surtout qu'il a commencé à en jouer à l'âge de 80 ans. Il joue de 3 à 4 fois par semaine à différents endroits de la communauté.

 

George LeBlanc est fier de savoir que la tradition familiale vivra à travers son petit fils Randy qui a lui aussi hérité de son amour de la pêche.

 

 

George LeBlanc :  A man with fishing in his soul.

 

George LeBlanc was born in June 1929 and is one of six children. He learned the craft of a lobster fisherman from his father at the tender age of 8 years old. During his life he has also fished mackerel, smelt, and herring. Not only is he a passionate fisherman but he also built around 15 boats; one for his son, “The Randy” and his own, “The Robynn” which was covered in fibreglass in order to endure the test of time.

 

Mr LeBlanc resides in Petit-Cap with his wife Margaret. They celebrated 60 years of wedding bliss this past summer, in July. The couple have six children as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. During his free time George plays the accordion. He started playing this instrument at the ripe age of 80. He plays 3 or 4 times a week in different sites in the community.

 

George is happy that the family tradition will live through his grandson Randy, who shares his love for lobster fishing.
